Trip you went on: 2025/26 NRMA Insurance Ashes Series Australia
What matches did you attend and which cities did you visit?
I attended the 2nd and 3rd NRMA Insurance Ashes Tests in Brisbane and Adelaide. During the break between the Tests, I also travelled up to Cairns with a group, which was the perfect opportunity to see a completely different side of Australia.
What was the best thing about your trip to Australia?
Aside from being there for the cricket, I was blown away by just how much Australia has to offer. From stunning beaches and beautiful landscapes to incredible wildlife, scenic walks, vibrant CBDs, art galleries, amazing food, and wineries, there truly is something for everyone. I loved that there was always something new to discover wherever we went, and it’s the kind of place that leaves you knowing there’s still so much more to explore on another visit. The weather was also a huge bonus, especially knowing how cold and wet it was back in the UK at the same time! What was your favourite excursion?
Without a doubt, the Great Barrier Reef excursion. It was a truly unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. Snorkelling among such vibrant marine life was incredible, and seeing a reef shark swim directly beneath me was something I’ll never forget. It was also really inspiring to learn about the conservation work being done, with coral nurseries helping to protect and sustain the reef for the future.
What was the best thing about the matches you went to see?
The atmosphere at the Test matches was absolutely unbeatable. There were so many England fans who had travelled over, which made it incredibly special to be part of. The atmosphere at the Gabba in Brisbane as the sun went down was particularly memorable. Being there when Joe Root scored his first Test century in Australia is a moment I’ll always treasure, the emotion and excitement among the England supporters was amazing, and I’m proud to say I was there to witness it.
What do you think made this Gullivers Sport Travel tour so special?
The people, without a doubt. Regardless of what was happening on the pitch, there was always a great sense of camaraderie. It was lovely to see friendships forming, people sharing stories, reminiscing about past tours, and enjoying the overall Gullivers touring experience together. That shared passion for cricket, combined with the social side of the tour, made it a truly special and memorable trip.
