6N 2025 SCO V WAL travel review

Who are you/ your role: Ellie – Marketing Executive

Your trip: Scotland v Wales – Six Nations,  8th March 2025

What was your favourite part of Edinburgh?

The Royal Mile was up there with one of my favourite parts of Edinburgh! The series of cobbled streets form the old town of Edinburgh and is picturesque no matter what the weather is doing. There’s an abundance of quintessential Scottish shops, from souvenir shops to clothing shops, intertwined with an array of restaurants and coffee shops. You could spend a long morning wandering the streets, listening to the iconic sound of the bagpipes, sipping delicious coffee and filling your bag with Scottish goods!

What was your favourite part of the trip?

My favourite part of the trip had to be match day. Waking up in Edinburgh on match day, you could already feel the atmosphere and buzz of the upcoming game in the city. With a big selection of cafes, bars, and restaurants to choose from for lunch, you aren’t short of choice! After some delicious food, we took a gentle walk towards Murrayfield along with what seemed like the whole city. The excitement and buzz in the fan zone was unmatched. and watching the Scottish rugby team be escorted in by a pipe band was electrifying!

How was the Match?

No matter where you’re sat in Murrayfield, the atmosphere during the national anthem of the Scottish Team is incredible. The Lone Piper begins The Flower of Scotland and halfway through stops to allow the stadium to finish, whether you’re a Scottish fan or not, you can’t deny the buzz that their national anthem brings to the stadium.

It was a brilliant game to watch, Scotland took the lead against Wales from the start and fought a very hard game. Going into half time the score was 28 – 8 to Scotland and it wasn’t looking positive for Wales. Wales came out stronger in the second half, scoring a few brilliant tries but unfortunately for the Wales fans it wasn’t quite enough to take down the Scottish team and the game was won 35 – 29 to Scotland.

What would you recommend doing in Edinburgh?

I would recommend heading to Grassmarket for food or even just for a coffee and taking in the picturesque streets of Edinburgh. Of course, a trip to Edinburgh wouldn’t be complete without visiting Edinburgh Castle, which is situated at the top of The Royal Mile. I would also suggest heading to Arthur's Seat and taking in the breath-taking views of the city.
