If you’re a rugby fan, the Hong Kong Sevens is a bucket-list event that promises thrilling action, incredible fan experiences, and a taste of one of Asia’s most vibrant cities. In 2025, I had the chance to attend with a Hong Kong Sevens ticket, hotel, and travel package, and it was an unforgettable adventure.
Hong Kong is hard to sum up in just one highlight, but what makes it truly special is its unique vibe. It’s the perfect fusion of East meets West and Old meets New. From historic neighbourhoods to futuristic skyscrapers, bustling streets to serene harbours, the city perfectly blends traditional charm with modern sophistication.
Getting around is a breeze thanks to the efficient transport system, and the food scene is nothing short of spectacular. Street markets, dim sum, and Michelin-starred restaurants coexist side by side, giving every visitor a taste of the city’s cultural richness.
Of course, the centrepiece of my journey was the rugby Sevens tournament itself. Held at the brand-new Kai Tak Stadium, this multi-billion-dollar venue redefines the fan experience.
The South Stand retains the lively atmosphere fans love, with a clever window offering panoramic views of Hong Kong.
The retractable roof ensures matches can go on regardless of spring weather, while double-sided screens make every try visible up close.
The acoustics, music, and lighting during the finals – plus the pre-match performance by the Kaizer Chiefs – made the stadium electrifying.
Watching world-class rugby in such a modern stadium is a must for any rugby enthusiast. It’s high-energy, unforgettable, and truly worth the trip.

While the rugby is a draw, Hong Kong itself offers so much to explore:
1. Food Adventures
Embark on a food tour to taste local delicacies – from dim sum to the famous roast goose. Street food here is affordable and delicious, letting you explore culinary gems at every corner.
2. Rooftop Bars & Light Shows
For a modern evening, visit a rooftop bar in Kowloon for spectacular skyline views. Time it with the 8 pm Symphony of Lights show for an unforgettable experience.
3. Iconic Transport & Sights
Ride the Star Ferry to Hong Kong Island.
Hop on the historic Ding Ding tram across the main areas of the island.
Take the Victoria Peak Tram for panoramic views of the city – early mornings are the most peaceful and photogenic.
These experiences perfectly complement the energy of the Sevens, giving you a full taste of what Hong Kong has to offer.
