Who are you/ your role: George - Operations Executive
Your trip: Italian Grand Prix, 29th Aug – 2nd Sep, Milan
What was your favourite part of City? Nicknamed ‘the fashion capital of the world’, Milan is a beautiful city, and its architecture plays a big role in this. Although I may be stating the obvious, the Duomo Cathedral really was one of my favourite parts of the city. It’s such a prominent and impressive building that sits right in the centre of Milan; meaning you can grab a bite to eat and a drink whilst still having the cathedral in view.
What was your favourite part of the trip? Amongst the actual racing itself, my favourite part of the trip was my day excursion to Lake Como. A train journey from Milan to Como takes only 45 mins, which makes it the perfect idea for those looking to see even more of the country. When in Como, I took the funicular up to the village of Brunate, in Lombardy. The funicular itself takes less than 10 minutes and there are some of the most amazing views of Lake Como at the top- I’d recommend this to anyone!
How was the Race? When it comes to a Grand Prix in Monza, the race more than delivered! After qualification, it looked as though the McLaren’s were going to run away with it as they booked their spot on P1 and P2 of the starting grid. Come the race on the Sunday, the McLaren’s opted for a two-stop strategy which proved costly. Ferrari chose for a risky one-stop strategy which remarkably gave Charles Leclerc the win, causing the tifosi to go wild! In terms of atmosphere, I have never heard anything quite like it at a Formula 1 race. This put the cherry on top of, what was, an extremely hot but incredibly enjoyable weekend.

What would you recommend doing in City? As well as seeing the Dumo in the heart of Milan, I would recommend heading towards the Arco della Pace (Arch of Peace) which stands in front of Milan’s most extensive green space- Sempione Park. This is much more than your average ‘walk in the park’, with a great blend of history and beauty.
