    Swan Valley Wineries; Just 25 minutes from Perth, Swan Valley is one of the world’s closest wine regions to a capital city. Experience rustic charm and generations of tradition and passion whilst tasting some of the best wine Australia has to offer. Due to its mediterranean climate, winemakers are able to grow and produce a wide range of wine styles from sparkling to fortified wines.

    Western Rock Lobster (Crayfish); As a coastal city, Perth is full of fresh seafood, and its most popular seafood item is the rock lobster. Whether you have it simply grilled or past of a more complex dish, make sure you get this as fresh as possible!

    Fact:

    Perth was named by Captain James Stirling in 1829 after Perth, Scotland. It is now known as one of the most liveable cities in the world.

    Australia Zoo; Established in 1970, the ‘Beerwah Reptile Park’ started as a wildlife park that spanned two acres. Ran by the Irwin family, Australia Zoo now encompasses over 700 acres, with 110 acres on public display, and tries to conserve, protect and educate others about the importance of looking after animals and our wildlife.

    Doughnuts; As the sweet treat speciality of the city, there are plenty of places to try these delectable sweets. Whether you want them fried or baked, glazed or sugared- there’s a type of doughnut for everyone!

    Fact:

    The traditional name of Brisbane is Meeanjin, meaning the place of the blue water lilies. It’s name is given by the Turrbal Tribe, the original inhabitants of Brisbane.

    Sydney Opera House; Don’t miss visiting the iconic Opera House overlooking the harbour and beyond. Whether you sit on the steps to take in the area, relax with a drink at Opera Bar or splash out and watch a show inside there’s plenty of ways to experience this amazing area.

    Meat Pie; One of the most commonly eaten foods in Australia is meat pies. Although found with different fillings, the most common ones you will find are ground meat, onions, gravy, mushrooms, and potatoes- and tastes even better after a few drinks at an Aussie Pub!

    Fact:

    Sydney Harbour is also the world’s largest natural harbour. The harbour has a single entrance and covers an area of 11 miles.

    National Gallery of Australia; Opened in 1982, Australia’s heritage-listed national gallery is home to the largest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art collection in the entire world.     Angus Beef; Get some of the best grass-fed angus in Canberra Nothing is better than a simple steak with some delectable sides such as dauphinoise potatoes and grilled asparagus.

    Fact:

    Canberra is the only city in the world where you can skydive over the country’s parliament house!

    Adelaide Central Market; With a history dating back more than 150 years, Adelaide Central Market remains one of Australia’s largest covered food markets. Take your time to explore over 80 stalls stacked with some of the freshest produce, from fruit and veg to meats and cheeses, you’re sure to find something to salivate over.

    Food/Drink to try:

    Adelaide AB; There is a long list of stories on what AB stands for but what you do know is its usually made up of a huge platter of hot chips smothered in chicken or lamb kebab, garlic, BBQ sauce and chili. Don’t miss out on trying this cult following dish- perfect for when you’ve had a couple of drinks!

    Fact:

    Australia is widely credited with producing around 95% of the world’s supply of precious opal, with South Australia accounting for 80%, this makes Adelaide one of the best places in the world to buy opals.

    Great Barrier Reef, Cairns, Australia

    The Great Barrier Reef; A visit to Cairns wouldn’t be complete without visiting the Great Barrier Reef, home to the world’s largest coral reef system, its full of the beautiful wonders of sea life. There are plenty of ways to explore this, whether you snorkel, scuba dive or go to one of the viewing platforms which you can visit by boat.

    Food/Drink to try:

    Prawns; Contrary to popular belief, Aussie’s don’t call this crustacean ‘shrimp’. You can find them freshly caught in Cairns and can find them in most restaurants whether they are grilled, baked, or fried.

    Fact:

    Tropical North Queensland is the only place in the world where two UNESCO sites collide. See the stunning views of the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Forest at Cape Tribulation, about 140kms north of Cairns.

    Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria, Melbourne Gardens; Attracting over 1,900,000 visitors annually, Melbourne Gardens is a treasured part of Melbourne. With its stunning vistas, tranquil lakes, areas such as the Aboriginal Heritage Walk and diverse plant collections, its an area not to miss.

    Coffee; Melburians are renowned for loving their coffee and make sure its strong! Melbourne is full of coffee shops and finely crafted coffee, so don’t miss out on trying a fantastic flat white.

    Melbourne has been voted “World’s Most Liveable City” almost every year since 2011!

    Port Arthur in Tasmania, Australia

    Top thing to see/do:

    Port Arthur; This is one of Australia’s most important and symbolic historical sites as in the 19th century it was one of the most prominent prisons in the country. Known as the ‘inescapable prison’, its now an open-air museum which offers visitors the chance to tour the prison buildings and get a sense of what life was like for prisoners serving time in one of the remotest prisons.

    Food/Drink to try:

    Scallop Pies; A staple of Tasmania, and something you can’t miss trying is the scallop pie. A buttery pastry casing is filled with tender scallops, vegetables and a creamy curry sauce.

    Fact:

    Tasmania has the cleanest air in the world, monitored by the Cape Grim Baseline Air Pollution Station. The lack of pollution is due to the position of Tasmania in the Southern Ocean, far from other landmasses.
