Gullivers Sports Travel have been touring to South Africa for many years for supporters trips to major events such as The Lions, Summer Tours and of course following the England Cricket Team. This red ball tour promises to be our biggest and best yet. We’ve perfected the art of creating unforgettable, well-organized experiences for sports fans. Whilst it will have been 7 years since travelling England fans have been in the crowd for a red ball series in South Africa, we have been touring the country more recently, with trips for the white ball series in 2023 and the Welsh Summer Tour a year before that. We’re ready to make this series one for the history books.

Day 1
Depart UK
Make your own way to the airport, check in/drop your bags off and make your way through customs. Once through customs make your way to the gate to board your flight to South Africa.

Day 2
Arrive South Africa
Upon arrival into Johannesburg, after clearing customs and immigration, your Tour Manager will meet you in the airport to transfer the group to your hotel to check in for 7 nights on a bed and breakfast basis.

Christmas Day in South Africa
Join your fellow Gullivers clients for Christmas Day. All our escorted tour travellers come together for a festive yet informal celebration. Return transfers will be included. Indulge in a delicious lunch with live entertainment.

Day 4-8
2nd Test - South Africa v England
Nothing beats test cricket on Boxing Day!
After breakfast, join the group and your tour manager on the coach for the transfer to the stadium for the day's play. After play, the coach will bring you back to the hotel. The journey time is approximately 35/40 minutes each way depending on traffic.
In the evening, find yourself on Nelson Mandela Square - a vibrant piazza for dining and upscale restaurants.

Day 9
Johannesburg to Cape Town - NYE
Check out of the hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight to Cape Town. On arrival, transfer to your hotel for an eight night stay with breakfast.
Cape Town is a fantastic place to experience NYE. You are free to make your own arrangements and see in the New Year however you wish. We will be putting on an event at an additional cost - more details to come soon!

Day 10-11
Days at Leisure
Two day's at leisure to settle into your new surroundings in Cape Town.
It's very easy to spend a lot of time at the V&A Waterfront, with lot's of food and shopping options and harbour views. Nearby, there are some fantastic winelands to experience, and a trip to Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was held prisoner is eye-opening and a must-do.
We will have some optional excursions for these days too - coming soon!

Day 12-16
3rd Test - South Africa v England
One of our favourite test cricket grounds in the world!
After breakfast, join the group and your tour manager on the coach for the transfer to the stadium for the day's play. After play, the coach will bring you back to the hotel. The journey time is approximately 20/25 minutes each way depending on traffic.
In the evening, find yourself on at the V&A Waterfront for ample food options with harbour views.

Day 17
Hermanus - Garden Route
Stretching 300km along South Africa's southeastern coast, the Garden Route is renowned for its beautifully dramatic scenery. We will be stopping off at Hermanus, George and Knysna for the perfect round-trip around arguably the most picturesque part of the country.
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and join your group on a coach transfer to Hermanus, this journey is roughly 2 hours.
Once we arrive, check into your hotel for a 1 night stay. Take the rest of the day to explore, perhaps going for a cliff-top walk, visiting a nearby vineyard or grabbing something to eat somewhere in this quaint fishing town.

Day 18-19
George - Garden Route
Today we are heading to George. The journey is approximately 4 hours but the surrounding views will make this drive worth it!
Once arrived, check into your hotel for a 2 night stay.
The second largest city in the Western Cape province, George is a popular holiday destination for its diverse scenery, natural wonders and expansive wildlife. Its prime location between the Outeniqua Mountains and Indian Ocean, surrounded by forests and lakes, also allows it to offer a compelling mix of outdoor pursuits, not to mention its collection of world-class golf courses.
We have included some excellent excursions into your itinerary to maximize your trip on the Garden Route. On Saturday, come together and head for a traditional South African Braai. On Sunday, you will be taking a trip to the Cango Caves followed by a visit to the Cango Ostrich Farm. Two unique experiences that will definitely make your trip a memorable one!
Hermanus to George
Braai Evening - Saturday 09 January
Included in your package on Saturday evening is a traditional South African Braai. A braai is both a social gathering and a cooking method, where meat is grilled over open coals or wood, similar to a barbecue.
Cango Caves Heritage Tour & Cango Ostrich Farm - Sunday 10 January
Included in this package is a tour of the Cango Caves followed by a visit to Cango Ostrich Farm. You will also be provided lunch whilst out on this trip!

Day 20 - 21
Kynsna - Garden Route
Check out of your hotel and join the group on a transfer to Kynsna, our final stop on the Garden Route. This will be approximately a 1 hour journey.
Kynsna stands out on South Africa's famed Garden Route for its forests, coastal routes and rolling mountains. You won't be at a lost for things to do in the area whether its setting off on a sunset cruise on the Kynsna estuary, a visit to nearby winelands or exploring the town's streets lined with cafes, galleries, independent shops and seafood restaurants. Our tour managers will happily recommend some great spots to hit while your out there!
We have organised for you to head out on a guided excursion and eco cruise of the Featherbed Nature Reserve on Tuesday. This will be a great chance to discover more about the local ecosystems, plant life and lagoon wildlife. Bring your camera!

George to Kynsna
Featherbed Eco Tour cruise & guided excursion - Tuesday 12 January
Included in this package is a guided excursion and cruise of Featherbed Nature Reserve, departing from Kynsna and taking you on a journey through lush coastal forest, fynbos, and ancient sea caves. Lunch is also provided whilst on this day trip.

Day 22
Depart South Africa
Check out of your hotel this morning and transfer with the group from Kynsna to Port Elizabeth International Airport. Please note this journey will take approximately 3.5 hours, depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the airport, check in and clear security before boarding your flight back home. Upon arrival back into the UK, clear customs and make your own onward arrangements. We hope that you head home with some fantastic lasting memories and new friendships formed from a special trip to South Africa.

2nd Test - South Africa v England

One of our favourite test match grounds, with a lush outfield and grass embankments, the pitch here is known for being a little quicker than others, which helped Jofra Archer take a third innings fifer the last time England played a test here in 2019. England did go on to lose that match though, and don't have a particularly good record here. Their only win came in 2000 which was marred by the infamous Hanse Cronje match-fixing scandal, when both teams forfeited an innings to force a result in the face of rain delays. Cronje orchestrated this as he needed to force a result for the bookmakers. England will be hoping to rectify that record this winter.

3rd Test - South Africa v England
Play Starts: TBC
Another of our favourite test match cricket grounds, England fans will remember a fantastic test match win here at the start of 2020. Ben Stokes took the final three wickets (including two in an over) to force a result when a draw looked increasingly likely. Other notable contributions in that game include a Sir Jimmy Anderson fifer in South Africa's first innings, and an unbeaten Dom Sibley hundred in England's second. The ground is one of the most beautiful in the world, nestled at the foot of Table Mountain. It's one of the few grounds in South Africa conducive to spin bowling and it doesn't often end in a draw here.
