Team Sky Ride Camp

Challenge yourself, develop your riding skills and compare your efforts to those of Team Sky’s riders on iconic climbs including Sa Calobra, Puig Mayor and Lluc. This camp is designed to suit a range of abilities, experience and fitness levels with ride groups of around ten riders taking in a combination of longer, flatter rides through the centre of the island to the Monasteries, alongside more challenging climbing days that take us into the Tramuntana mountains of the north.

4★ Accommodation

Our base for the camp is the town of Port de Pollenca, in the north of the island. You will stay in 4★ apartments next to the beach and at the foot of the popular Formentor climb.

Optional Extras

Hire a bike from our reputable local partner in Port de Pollenca for £130 each. We also have a limited number of pro-edition Team Sky 2015 Pinarello Dogma F8s to hire for £250 each, subject to availability. There are a limited number of 30-minute massages available each day between 4-6pm for £30 each. These are available when booking on a first-come-first-served basis.

Full itinerary

  • Day 1

Arrivals Day & Formentor Peninsular Ride

Make your own way to Palma International Airport, Mallorca (PMI).

The group transfers to take you from the airport to the hotel are scheduled to meet the following flights:

Transfer 1: EasyJet | Departing London Gatwick (LGW) 08:05 – Arriving Palma (PMI) 11:25 (local time)
Transfer 2: EasyJet | Departing London Gatwick (LGW) 12:40 – Arriving Palma (PMI) 16:00 (local time)

You are welcome to join this transfer if you arrive on an alternative flight, but we cannot hold the scheduled transfer for you. If you have a flight arriving at a time that doesn’t coincide with these flight times, we can arrange a private airport transfer on request and at an additional cost.

Check-in at the hotel is available from 3pm. Earlier check in may be available if the rooms are ready, but this can’t be guaranteed. If you arrive before your room is ready, there will be left luggage and changing facilities at the hotel available for you.

For those who arrive in time, (on the earlier transfer) you can join an optional guided ride as a warm-up and help find your place in the groups before the longer rides the following day. After a short briefing, we will head up the Formentor climb immediately outside the hotel, and along the Formentor peninsula to the lighthouse.

Alternatively, take a map or upload a GPS file (.gpx) for some recommended self-guided rides from the hotel.

From approximately 6pm, meet the rest of the group, ride leaders and event staff for a welcome drink and your camp briefing, before your evening meal at the hotel

  • Day 2

    Monastery Ride

Start the day with a hearty riders’ breakfast with items from Team Sky’s chef’s recipes available (or your selection from the hot and cold buffet).

Bike workshop and mechanic available for pre-ride adjustments, before you join the ride briefing for a run down on the day’s groups, routes and key climbs.

Head out on the first guided ride on a route of 100km to 110km that is mostly flat, but takes in a 5km climb to either the monastery of San Salvador or La Cura Randa. Team Sky use these 5km monastery climbs in their training camps.
There will be a shorter ride of 85km that will climb to the church of Santa Magdalena, near to the town of Inca.

There will be a coffee stop along the route, with snack lunches and rest stops from our back-up team.

A snack table will be available on your return, and massages available (as an optional extra), with time to recover at the hotel before the first Team Sky-hosted evening presentation of the week.

    Enjoy dinner at the hotel.

  • Day 3

    Mountain Ride

Follows the same format as Sunday.

This is our longest and hardest ride of the camp; a 135km guided and fully supported ride that takes us into the beautiful Tramuntana mountains and features some of the famous climbs on the island of Mallorca including Bunyola, Puig Mayor and Lluc (Sa Batalla). There is 2,350 metres of climbing on this ride, but there will be a shorter ride option available.

Return back to the hotel to recover before dinner at the hotel.

  • Day 4

    Sa Calobra Mountain Ride

Sa Calobra is probably the most iconic climb on the island of Mallorca, and where Team Sky do a lot of timed efforts. Today we shall get the chance to ride this iconic climb and later compare our times to Team Sky riders. This is a mountainous ride, and there will be the option of both a 120km and 100km ride, each with nearly 2000 metres of climbing.

  • Day 5

    Departure Day

Have an early breakfast at the hotel before joining the group transfer to the airport and making your way home.

Depart hotel: 7:00am - Arrive Palma Airport (PMI): Approx 8:00am

Please book your return flights with this transfer in mind, scheduled to arrive in time for the following flight:
EasyJet | Departing Palma (PMI) 09:35 – Arriving London Gatwick (LGW) 11:05 (local time)

If you are departing at an alternative time, we can arrange a private airport transfer on request and at an additional cost.

Please consider the hotel check out time of 11:00am.
