England claimed their first win against Samoa but Wales' long wait for a victory over New Zealand continues.

England picked up their first win of the autumn internationals but Wales were unable to make it back-to-back victories.

At Twickenham England triumphed over Samoa while in Cardiff Wales were once again beaten by New Zealand. England earned their first victory of the month in unspectacular fashion winning 28-9 against the Samoans. Tries from Jonny May and Mike Brown and three penalties from George Ford secured the win for Stuart Lancaster's side.

Wales' 61-year wait for a win over the All Blacks goes on as the Red Dragons were unable to fend off the world champions, losing 16-34. The Welsh held a one point lead with just 11 minutes left but were unable to see out the game.

    Wales 16-34 New Zealand

Wales welcomed the reigning world champions to the Millennium Stadium searching for their first win over their southern hemisphere counterparts since 1953. They started the contest well with a Leigh Halfpenny penalty putting them 3-0 ahead but New Zealand fought back with a penalty of their own just minutes later.

The game swung in the All Blacks' favour as Julian Savea went over for the first try of the game just after the interval. However, Wales responded immediately as Rhys Webb scored a try of his own. A further penalty conversion from Halfpenny but the Welsh into a 13-10 and despite a further New Zealand try they led the game by a point with 11 minutes remaining.

Despite the will of Cardiff, Wales were unable to hold on for the victory as the All Blacks demonstrated why they are the best in the world. Two tries from Beauden Barrett and one from Kieran Read gave New Zealand the win. It was a somewhat lopsided scoreline as Wales had battled well throughout.

It is now 61 years since Wales triumphed over the All Blacks and now they must regroup for their final autumn international against South Africa on Saturday (November 29th).

    England 28-9 Samoa

At Twickenham it was a much more straightforward affair as England breezed past Samoa to pick up their first win of the QBE Autumn Internationals. It was an important victory for Stuart Lancaster's side who had not won since a 52-11 success over Italy in March and with Australia looming on Saturday, it will help build momentum in time for the Wallabies' arrival.

England were in confident mood in London as winger Jonny May scored the only try of a scrappy first half. Mike Brown helped himself to a try after the break following a neat kick from George Ford and quick handling from Anthony Watson. May added his second and England's third try in the 51st minute giving them a commanding 28-9 lead.

Despite defeats to New Zealand and South Africa during this series, England will be buoyed by this result. They now face an Australian side fresh from a shock defeat against Ireland in Dublin.
