Gullivers staff at the Hungarian GP

    Friday 21st July

We had travelled to Budapest earlier on in the week, to be ready for guests arriving on the Friday. We held hospitality desks in each hotel which gave us an opportunity to meet any clients that were arriving. In the evening it was then time to host our Welcome Drinks events that evening which took place in both the Hotel Oktogon and Intercontinental Hotel. The Welcome Drinks at the Intercontinental Hotel were due to take place outside, however the only bit of bad weather we had all weekend prevented us from doing so. Despite the miserable weather, clients didn’t let this dampen their spirits which I can only assume was something to do with the complimentary drinks and good company. Ahead of a highly anticipated weekend in Hungary, we thoroughly enjoyed socialising with all of the Gullivers’ clients that joined us that evening.

    Saturday 22nd July

As a new day dawned and the weather in Budapest returned to its normal summery self, our groups gathered in each hotel reception before embarking on a journey to the Hungaroring Circuit. Having eventually trudged through the traffic, we made it into the coach park which was only a stone’s throw away from the gate entrance. After making the short walk myself and entering the circuit, you could sense that the glorious weather and bubbling atmosphere was all set up for a great day of racing. Clients were distributed across several grandstands but we were lucky enough to have tickets for Silver 3- situated on the final turn of the circuit. This was particularly special as you could see the cars slowing down to negotiate the corner, before accelerating into the distance to pass the start/finish. After what had already been an entertaining day of racing, the F1 qualifying did not disappoint as Hamilton pipped Verstappen to pole position in the final moments. As clients returned to the coaches, the general consensus was that they simply couldn’t wait for the big day tomorrow…

    Sunday 23rd July

An earlier start to proceedings on Sunday didn’t affect the enthusiasm of our clients as they remained ready and raring to go. Having avoided the traffic that morning, our transfers flew into the coach park in no time at all and our clients arrived ahead of the full race schedule. With more great weather and an atmosphere exceeding that of the previous day, the scene was set for the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix. Shortly after the lights were out, it didn’t take too long for Verstappen to regain the position he had occupied for the majority of the season. It came as no surprise that the Dutch remained in first place for the foreseeable, with his teammate, Sergio Perez, finishing third. Lando Norris was the driver to separate the Red Bull drivers as he finished second. Once all had finished at the track, clients returned to the coaches in nothing but high spirits and sun-kissed faces. Before dropping off at our hotels and leaving our groups to enjoy an evening in Budapest, it was time to say our goodbyes and thank all for what was a brilliant weekend.
