Gullivers representatives

As the tension was mounting with only four races left of the season and thoughts of my favourite driver (Lewis) only a few points away from clenching his fourth F1 title, I made my way to London in time for Gullivers' first ever escorted US Grand Prix race weekend.

We left London on our early morning flight to the US; our first flight was nine hours from Heathrow to Houston, Texas, where we then boarded our short 30 minutes hop onto Austin. We were lucky to see the circuit from the sky - such a great sight!

On arrival, we were met and transferred to our hotel on the outskirts of the city. The hotel sat in a great location with restaurants within walking distance, a great atmosphere in the lobby bar and a warm welcome from our Texan staff who were waiting for us.

Next day we had a day at leisure, so many of the clients headed off into the city and took in the sights, boarding the hop on/hop off tour bus, taking a walk down 6th Street's hip bars. Others headed out to the shopping outlet 'The Domain' which was only a few minutes' drive from the hotel with a great selection of shops, bars, restaurants and entertainment area all close by.

On Saturday, we headed out to the Circuit of the America's and parked up amongst all the RVs camping for the weekend - it felt like a scene from National Lampoon's Holiday Vacation movie, a great sight to see. As you would expect, there was lots to see and do, from the live bands stationed all around the circuit, autograph sessions with the drivers in the 360 amphitheatre and the day ended with Justin Timberlake in concert.

Sunday started with an unexpected storm. Torrential rain, thunder and lighting filled the sky for the first few hours. Once cleared, the sun soon came out to dry out the track and racing started.  Austin had a different program to many of the other F1 weekends, instead of GP2, 3 and the Porsche Super Cup, this weekend we had Masters Historic Races and Formula 4. It was great to see the F4's back on the track as this was the series my late dad raced for so many years.

The race was electric with Seb stealing the lead on the first corner and Lewis hunting him down to regain the lead. Max made a great move to get ahead of Kimi into 3rd place across the line but gained an unfair advantage so was demoted to 4th after the race - better luck next time, Max! At the end of the day the track opened to give the fans the opportunity to walk the track. The view from the top of turn 1 was spectacular, 132 feet above the start line, a full commitment blind corner. The day ended with us all enjoying a concert with the one and only Stevie Wonder singing all his classics into the evening sunset.

Monday we headed home after enjoying a great weekend. It's a long way to travel but worth every minute - Texas you did us proud!

Roll on next weekend with the constructor’s championship in the bag this weekend for Mercedes can Lewis finish the job off in Mexico. Time will tell...
