Gullivers ambassador merge

While the rest of the rugby world speculates on squad selection for the 2017 Lions tour to New Zealand, here at Gullivers, in traditional rugby tour style, we are pleased to announce the appointment of our very own Tour Committee for the tour to New Zealand in 2017.

Gullivers pride themselves on providing a real rugby tour experience, and the Lions tour next year is no exception, with a social match, big pub style events, plenty of beer and banter…and the odd court session! The tour committee will be on hand during the tour to ensure our guests are suitably entertained and informed.

Gavin Hastings - appointed Gullivers’ Tour President - capped six times for the Lions on the Australia 1989 tour and the New Zealand tour in 1993, where he captained the tour and scored 66 points. He was also capped 61 times for Scotland. Our esteemed president will oversee the formalities and share his wealth of knowledge on NZ, the Lions, fine wines and much, much more!

Rob Henderson - appointed Head Coach - was capped three times for the Lions on the 2001 tour to Australia, and capped 29 times for Ireland. A legend on the pitch and at the bar, ‘Hendo’ will be taking the chair for some of our forums as well as holding court in our Gullivers Big Pubs.

Ryan Jones - appointed Tour Captain - was capped three times for Lions on the 2005 New Zealand tour and has 75 Wales caps. With four Six Nations titles, three Grand Slams and the hard lessons of the 2005 NZ tour to share, we couldn’t ask for a better leader!

Gullivers’ Managing Director Sam Seward, said:

“The Lions tour is in our DNA here at Gullivers and we are delighted and proud that three formidable former Lions have chosen to represent Gullivers in New Zealand, and we know our clients will enjoy meeting them at our various events which include golf days, exclusive dinners and our infamous Clubhouse events. This is Gullivers’ tenth Lions tour, so it is a special occasion and one we are very much looking forward to!”

    Hastings said:

“I am full of anticipation about returning to New Zealand with Gullivers. Despite losing the series 2-1 back in ’93, I have great memories of being on tour over there. Gullivers know all the makings of a real rugby tour and I look forward to meeting their many clients across the events they are putting on around all three Tests”.

    Jones added:

“Like Gavin, although the 2005 tour to New Zealand was a disappointing 3-0 loss, we travelled to some fantastic places and really immersed ourselves in the unique culture over there. I know everyone will have a great time with Gullivers – as I myself have on many occasions!”

    Henderson continues:

“One of the great things about our sport is the camaraderie and experiences you have out on tour. To experience a Lions tour in New Zealand as a supporter and as an ambassador for a well-respected company is something I am very much looking forward to. See you on tour!”
