Wales v Portugal and England v Japan at the Stade de Nice, Nice

What was your favourite part of Nice?

I really enjoyed walking along the Promenade des Anglais taking in the stunning views of the azure sea, made even better with an ice cream in hand!

What was your favourite part of the trip?

The Gullivers Clubhouse event before the England game was my favourite part of the weekend. Our guest speakers of Simon Shaw, Ben Kay and Luke Pearce were great and Shawsy in particular had some very funny stories about his playing career!

How was the Match?

Wales v Portugal:

The Portuguese side certainly made it difficult for Wales on Saturday evening with their persistent attacking approach which was spurred on by the strong Portuguese crowd. Portugal were rewarded with their efforts and they did score a try. Ultimately though Wales came out on top and even managed to secure a bonus point with tries from Rees-Zammit, Lake, Morgan and Faletau much to the delight of the Welsh Fans!

England v Japan:

The atmosphere in the stadium was buzzing under the floodlights of the late kick-off, with English and Japanese fans alike hoping for an exciting game. The game started fairly even with both teams getting points on the board. After half time, England scored their second try with a bizarre try bouncing off Marler’s head and took this in their stride successfully scoring 2 more tries through Steward and Marchant, giving England their 2nd win of the tournament and a bonus point.

What would you recommend doing in Nice?

There are lots of museums to explore in Nice which I would definitely recommend doing, and of course a walk along the famous promenade!
