My home town is Johannesburg, South Africa, and wanting to discover a little of my heritage (my mother was born in Sussex), as well as enjoy new challenges and adventure, I moved to the UK and joined Gullivers in February 2016.
Sport and children have always been my passion, especially when the two come together! After completing a Sport Science & Recreation degree, I spent a further year studying for a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education. Being fully bilingual, it afforded me the opportunity to teach Afrikaans to English speaking students as well as enjoy the outdoors as Head of Girls Sport, doing Physical Education and coaching a variety of sports, netball being my speciality! With Afrikaans, I also have the advantage of being able to communicate in Dutch and Flemish, as these languages are very similar.
Highlights of my school sport career include an U18 netball tour to Malaysia and Singapore (the beginning of my travel bug, I suspect) and coaching the U15 Gauteng Provincial netball team in a national competition to a bronze medal.
My leisure time includes watching sport – rugby, cricket, tennis, F1, golf and all world cup events. I enjoy playing golf, netball, rugby, anything outdoors is always a bonus and travelling. Aside from holidays to Southern African countries, I have seen much of Europe (France, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland), and recently spent time in Taiwan and Hong Kong (my favourite). I also lived in Fort Lauderdale for two years. My travelling bucket list grows daily!
I am very privileged to have the opportunity to be a part of the Gullivers team as a Sports Tour Co-ordinator and planning tours that give ever lasting memories and experiences to our clients.
