Bahrain Grand Prix, 29th Feb – 4th March 2024

What was your favourite part of Bahrain?

Bab Al Bahrain and the local souk. It’s amazing to think it once stood on the coastline, but with land reclaimed it’s now 1km from the coast.

What was your favourite part of the trip?

From arriving in a new country, seeing a different culture, and the friendly hospitality- it’s hard to choose one favourite part!

How was the Race?

This was my first experience of the Bahrain International Circuit. It was very easy getting to the circuit on our coach, which makes life simple as there is very little public transport in that area. The gates were a 5-minute walk from the coach and then you were straight into the fan zone and the amazing atmosphere. All the grandstands were clustered around the same end of the circuit which meant they are all easily walkable in a short time, with the furthest (that wasn’t far) having an internal shuttle bus.

A great experience being at the first race of the season, when no one really knows the true order of the teams. Red Bull still having the upper hand, but the rest all being very tight.

What would you recommend doing in Bahrain?

I would suggest Bab al Bahrain; a historical building located in the Customs Square in the CB district of Manama. It marks the main entrance to the Manama Souq. However, there is also so much more to see including Bahrain Fort, Muharraq Island, tour the Grand Mosque and if shopping is your thing there are plenty of Malls (The Vida hotel where we stayed has one attached!)
