Gullivers staff in Bordeaux

Who are you/ your role: Charlotte Carter, Marketing Executive

Your trip: Wales v Fiji, Bordeaux, 8-11/09/2023

What was your favourite part of Bordeaux?

The history, there was some beautiful historic buildings and monuments to see, including the cities majestic Cathedral Saint Andre, which famously held the marriage of Eleanor of Aquitaine with Louis VII, the then future king of France, in 1137.

What was your favourite part of the trip?

Hearing the Welsh crowd sing the Welsh National Anthem, the atmosphere was amazing and it made me proud to be a fellow Welsh woman!

    How was the Match?

The game was amazing, it was held in Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux, which was a beautiful white stadium, with amazing modern architecture. Both fans’ sides (Wales and Fiji) were excited for the game and the atmosphere was electric! The game started with a strong Fijian side, but Wales came back fighting with some strong defence to get the win with 32-26 at full time.

What would you recommend doing in Bordeaux?

Bordeaux is famous for their wine and so many clients went on Wine tastings or tours and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  The area between the two major rivers of Bordeaux, the Garonne and Dordogne, is called Entre Deux Mers (Between Two Seas) where you can find a huge option of vineyards. The area produces both red (predominantly Merlot) and a portion of white wines, which are a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle, so there are plenty of options for all wine drinkers!
