Who are you/ your role: Callum Wardlaw, Commercial Executive
Your trip: England v Chile, Lille, 20-24/09
What was your favourite part of Lille? My favourite part of Lille was how welcoming the city was to travelling supporters. It felt like Lille was as excited to be hosting matches as the visiting fans were to be there. Bars and restaurants were accommodating, and the city was beautiful - especially when the sun came out.
What was your favourite part of the trip? I really enjoyed the clubhouse at Café Oz. The speakers were brilliant, and it was fascinating to hear the insight of two World Cup winners, who were also very funny.
How was the Match? The match itself was great, and although England won with ease, they also did it in style. Marcus Smith’s try was my favourite of the eleven. The stadium was impressive and larger than I thought it would be, which created a jubilant atmosphere.
What would you recommend doing in Lille? If the weather is good, I would recommend having a coffee outside in one of the many cafes surrounding the Grand Place. Around the Cathedral there are lots of terrace style tables to grab some lunch, and later on in the evening a cocktail in the rooftop bar of Hotel Carlton is not to be missed.
