What was your favourite part of ‘City’?
I stayed outside of Monaco itself and stayed in Cannes for the weekend, however exploring round Monaco in between the qualifying sessions was amazing. Walking up the steps to the old town past the Palace to the viewing platform was incredible. The small intricate streets nestled at the top of the hill with gift shops and bars dotted on every corner.
What was your favourite part of the trip?
I think for me personally was the track walk at the end of the racing activities on the Saturday evening. Being able to walk along where the cars fly round at over 120mph was truly a one-of-a-kind experience. As a big F1 fan this was a massive highlight not just for me but for all who we chatted to whilst walking round. Monaco of course holds itself as one of the biggest glitz and glam venues on the race calendar and it didn’t disappoint, the yachts in the harbour booming out the party atmosphere to the endless stream of Ferrari’s and Lamborghini’s driving through Casino square.
How was the Race?
Travelling from Cannes across to Monaco in the morning I took the coastal train, the views along the South of France are amazing and provide a great warm up before arrival into Monte Carlo!
The race itself was eventful! Starting with a big shunt from one of the Haas drivers that took Perez out on the opening lap causing both Haas cars to retire from the incident. Once again both French men from Alpine had a disagreement to who was in front before heading into the tunnel…
The race was Charles Leclerc’s first Grand Prix win in Monaco and his first GP win since 2022, the driver who is also from Monaco had the perfect fairy tale weekend from being on pole in qualifying to bringing the car safely home to secure the perfect home race win. The first driver from Monaco to win the Monaco grand prix since Louis Chiron in 1931.
What would you recommend doing in ‘City’?
Absolutely 100% I would recommend doing the track walk, not only do you see the view from track side through the circuit but you also get to see every grandstand view. Walking past all the yachts and see the different parties was pretty special. And if you have time, walking round the car show rooms is a great experience as the McLaren show room had a F1 prototype car in the forecourt for you to get up close and have a good explore!
